Through my oil paintings I like to show the beauty of everyday objects, like a small flower, the color of a fruit or a morning walk in the mountains.

About

Doris Brand was born in Speyer, Germany in 1965. She emigrated from Germany to South Africa in 1985, originally moving to Somerset West (near Cape Town) and Swellendam, before finally settling in the beautiful town of George, in the Garden Route.

Doris is married to Leander Brand, with whom she started Cape Palette Art Gallery, in 2002, in George. As well as being a professional artist, she teaches painting classes to adults at her gallery. Doris’s preferred medium is oil paint, but on occasion, she enjoys experimenting with other mediums in her work. She loves painting personal subjects and draws her inspiration from her immediate surroundings and subjective experiences. Doris Brand’s still life paintings seek to capture the texture and light of ordinary subjects and transform them into extraordinary art. Since 2000, she has also participated in numerous exhibitions at various galleries and festivals.

Doris Brand is currently exhibiting at various galleries in the Western Cape, as well as teaching painting and drawing at Cape Palette Artist Studio.
